Job Summary
The accountant will handle the vast majority of the day-to-day business operations of the school, handling all financial reporting and oversight.
This candidate will work with the principal and Board of Directors, providing financial reports and accounting guidance in compliance with the Archdiocese of Detroit financial policies and procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare the annual budget in consultation with the principal and Board of Directors.
Analyze reports and monitor budgetary compliance throughout the fiscal year.
Prepare and submit all reports required by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Maintain the general ledger, record journal entries and perform all activities related to accounts receivable and payable.
Prepare bi-weekly payroll and annual pay adjustments in coordination with the budgetary process.
Consult with the principal on salary matters and personnel policies.
Experience with Paycor is helpful.
Facilitate enrollment of employees in archdiocesan benefit plans; provide related information, documentation and guidance on employee benefit inquiries from school staff.
Maintain bank records including processing and recording deposits and monthly account reconciliation.
Monitor cash flow activity.
Manage tuition billing, collection and enrollment processes for all school families.
Record weekly tuition remittances.
Manage individual family accounts in the FACTS Tuition Management database.
Prepare monthly financial reports for the principal and Board of Directors; prepare and submit the year-end reports required by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Understand and ensure compliance with Archdiocese of Detroit financial and administrative policies and procedures as well as applicable tax regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years accounting experience; non-profit experience and/or CPA certification preferred but not required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills; must be detail-oriented, proficient at completing tasks while working independently and able to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office software.
Knowledge of financial accounting software such as Sage Intacct is helpful.
Ability to develop strong professional relationships with administration, staff and parents.
