This 1897 parlor grand was built by Chickering craftsman of the old country with a unique squared body.
Chickering wanted the deep and powerful full grand sound in a shorter body so he designed the 109c with a wider soundboard resulting in wider cheek blocks, deeper bass and rich tones.
This 109c has its original ivory keys and a perfectly intact soundboard.
Two keys have small chips.
The A7# and the B7 strings are partially missing half of their strings but still play in tune.
All else works as original.
The hammers could use voicing to achieve a more modern sound if desired.
The finish on this piano is original from 1897 and shows signs of use over the years.
Our 109c is a lovely and unique piece crafted in Brazilian rosewood.
Few of these remain and they are true gems.
This is a wonderful piece to play and to show due to its unique case.
The price is fairly low due to its condition.
If you choose to have the 109c restored closer to its original luster it could be a wonderful investment.
