ACCOUNTING CLERK

SUMMARY & PURPOSE OF POSITION: We are seeking highly motivated individuals looking for a challenging and rewarding career in a growing company!
The Accounting Department is critical to the overall success of our company, and the Accounting Clerk provides the excellent team-centric mentality for which were known.
You will provide fundamental day-to-day support for Gold Star’s financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting operations.
PRIMARY POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs various accounts payable functions, including reviewing and coding invoices, entering payments, and balancing company credit card statements
Prepare various accounting entries to general ledger, analyze GL entries, balance, and verify GL accounts daily, and reconcile as needed
Review and process payroll transmissions, help with reconciliation of bank statements, and prepare profit and loss statements, financials statements, and other related documents
Enter borrower payments received from Gold Star’s payment portal into accounting software
Create and submit import files into the accounting software
Enter daily transactions in accounting software
Review uncleared checks (run reports, assign expense account, submit for review)
Scan invoices received in the mail and submitted to accounts payable
Mail bill payments and deliver checks to requestors in the office
Download accounting documentation for periodic requests
Create and distribute payroll reports to various individuals
Process loan lead types of changes in Encompass
Deposit incoming checks using the check scanner
Complete ad hoc duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing, be able to work independently, occasionally under pressure, and coordinate efforts with other business units
Must also be extremely organized, maintain strict confidentiality, and operate in an ethical, candid, and straightforward manner while maintaining excellent peer-to-peer relations
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Proficiency in MS Office strongly preferred
Associated Degree strongly preferred (not required)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT:
The environment is characteristic of an office setting.
Must be able to execute complex tasks on time sensitive transactions and be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
