is in search of a Commercial Property Accountant.
The position offers a hybrid work schedule and our office is located in Livonia, Michigan.
Schostak has had a footprint in Michigan for over 100 years.
Since 1920, the now fourth-generation family-based company out of Livonia, MI, has included development, acquisitions, and leasing of retail, office, industrial, residential, mixed-use projects both urban and suburban.
Schostak’s current activities include joint ventures, build-to-suit projects, mixed-use developments, and a variety of necessity-based retail and open air centers around the country.
*PRIMARY FUNCTION:*
Responsible for the general ledger and accounts receivable functions including billing, tracking accounts receivable, maintaining general ledger accounts and preparation of monthly financial statements for multiple office buildings and shopping centers.
*KEY* *RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Preparation of accrual basis monthly financial statements.
* Prepares Tenant Estoppels and Rent Letters, verifies that tenant billings conform to the Leases and Amendments, and tracks tenant payments for the designated properties.
* Reviews tenant ledgers for outstanding charges and requests P/M approval for write-offs.
* Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed and various expenses incurred.
* Calculates tenant CAM, tax and insurance estimated monthly billing.
* Computes year-end reconciliations for tenants CAM, tax and insurance proration.
* Prepares annual work papers for designated properties for audit and tax purposes.
* Monthly preparation of cash forecasts for all assigned properties.
* Offers suggestions to the Director of Accounting for improving accounts receivable and general ledger processes and procedures to increase department productivity.
* Assists the Director of Accounting with financial analysis and projects as requested.
*EDUCATION /SKILLS* *:*
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
* 1-4 years of experience in Commercial Property Management and/or Real Estate Development Accounting required.
* Word & Excel proficiency
* MRI or comparable property management software is preferred but not required.
